Gender stereotypes have been a controversial topic for years. Lots of authors have stated misconceptions about gender-influenced differences, as, for example, that women are more talkative or have more verbal fluency (Vanda, 2009). Verbal skills have been widely studied in this area and although they suggest a female advantage, plenty of research has rejected this outperform (Schreuringer et al, 2017).
This study aims to determine if gender influences the performance on a phonological verbal fluency (PVF) task, as well as to design a decision classification tree to predict participants’ gender depending on their answers on this task. We hypothesize that there will not be differences between the number of words generated between males and females on the test, but that there will be differences in their words given. Besides, we expect our tool to be able to predict with accuracy participants’ gender. [-]

Los estereotipos de género son una materia de estudio controvertida. Muchos autores han postulado diferencias entre géneros, como, por ejemplo, que las mujeres son más comunicativas o tienen más fluidez verbal (Vanda, 2009). Las habilidades verbales han sido una de las habilidades cognitivas investigadas en esta área y, aunque sugieren una mayor capacidad femenina, muchas investigaciones la rechazan (Schreuringer et al, 2017).
El objetivo de este estudio es determinar si el género influye en el rendimiento de una tarea de fluidez verbal fonológica (FVF), así como diseñar un árbol de clasificación que permita predecir el género de los sujetos en función de sus respuestas en la tarea. Se hipotetiza que no habrá diferencias en la FVF entre hombres y mujeres, pero que sí habrá diferencias en las palabras respondidas. Además, se espera [-]
