Over the last decades, motivation in the process of foreign language learning (FLL) has
been considered a prior field of research. Motivation is considered one of the most
influential variables in the success or failure of the learning process. Therefore, how
languages are taught in the foreign language classroom is a key aspect, and without
motivation, language learning achievement may not occur. Hence, the current paper
presents a motivational teaching proposal for a group of third-grade students of
secondary education in the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) classroom. Students
filled out a pre-motivation questionnaire in order to measure their language learning
motivation and their classroom learning motivation towards the English subject. The
results obtained from the survey have helped to develop a didactic unit to enhance
learners' motivation, supported by a general overview of literature focused on
motivation and its most relevant theories. [-]
