Society has experienced notable changes and therefore education cannot remain fixed, for this
reason innovation in education is certainly important. The introduction of information and
communications technology (ICT) in our daily lives is also a way of innovating and advance
in the field of education. As a result of this change in the teaching/learning processes,
motivation can increase. Games also appear on the scene of the teaching-learning process when
addressing motivation (Al-Azawi et al., 2016; Ardoiz García, 2017), hence, this paper begins
covering these four concepts: innovation in education, ICT in education, gamification and
motivation. Relying on that theoretical background, a didactic unit has been created to reinforce
motivation in the EFL classroom, in this case focusing on vocabulary, which was the main area
with a lack of motivation in the 2nd grade of ESO in IES “Broch i Llop" [-]
