Objective To know which is the perception about the support of breastfeeding by working
mothers at Jaime 1 University.
Materials and methods A retrospective, epidemiological, analitical study was made with the
working mothers of the University that gave birth in the last ten years. A questionary was
developed through Google Forms and sent to all users in order to evaluate the
sociodemographic, gynecological and obstetric and characteristics related to the workplace,
using the WBSS (Workplace Breastfeeding Support Scale) validated scale.
Results 52,4% of the sample was composed by teachers and investigators and the remaining
47,6% by administratives and services. 90,3% of the woman gave breastfeeding to her last
descendant and 52,4% kept it after returning to work. The technical support at workplace was
the worst rated aspect by the users of the study; only 34% had at their disposal breastfeeding
rooms at the workplaces. No statistics differences were observed between adminisitratives
and teachers to continue breastfeeding after reincorporating to worklife (p=0,605).
Conclusion It is essential that women recibe all the information and necessary support about
the breastfeeding, and the health professionals play a crucial role there. By companies side, it
is necessary to stablish support programs to breastfeeding that allow women who want to
keep breastfeeding after reincorporating to worklifes. [-]

madres trabajadoras en la Universitat Jaume I.

Objetivo Conocer cuál es la percepción sobre el apoyo a la lactancia materna por parte de las
madres trabajadoras en la Universitat Jaume I.
Materiales y métodos Se llevó a cabo un estudio epidemiológico de carácter analítico
retrospectivo de las mujeres trabajadoras en la Universitat Jaume I que hubieran sido madres
en los últimos 10 años. Se elaboró un cuestionario a través de Google Forms que fue enviado
a todas las mujeres para evaluar las características sociodemográficas, gineco-obstétricas y las
relacionadas con el lugar de trabajo, utilizando la escala validada WBSS (Workplace
Breastfeeding Support Scale).
Resultados El 52,4% de la muestra estaba compuesto por personal docente e investigador y el
47,6% por personal administrativo y de servicios. El 90,3% de las mujeres dieron lactancia
materna su último/a hijo/a y el 52,4% la mantuvo tras la reincorporación al trabajo. El soporte
técnico en el lugar de trabajo fue la dimensión peor valorada por las mujeres; únicamente el
34% disponían de salas de lactancia en el lugar de trabajo. No se observaron diferencias
estadísticas entre las trabajadoras administrativas y las docentes para continuar la lactancia
tras la reincorporación a la jornada laboral (p=0,605).
Conclusión Es esencial que las mujeres reciban toda la información y apoyo necesario acerca
de la lactancia materna y los profesionales sanitarios adoptan un papel crucial. Por parte de las
empresas, es necesario establecer programas de apoyo a la lactancia que brinden oportunidad
a las mujeres que desean continuar con la lactancia tras la reincorporación a la jornada
laboral. [-]
