Spanish media, in its third evolution phase, is not oblivious to the existence of social platforms.
The upcoming mainstreaming in the media environment by the consumption choice of audiovisual content in platforms such as Instagram's IGTV has led journalism companies to break
through them by slowly adapting to their thematic, interactive and formal mechanics, which are
directly related to the success of those publications and the popularisation of their profiles. The
goal of this research aims to observe such trends and to compare the degree of adaptation
from such media outlets to online platforms according to the "5Ws of Digital Image" analysis
model, adjusted to the video format and the measurement of their interactivity levels. The
results reveal that accounts from media outlets such as RTVE, La Sexta, Cadena Ser, COPE,
Público and OkDiario are still in the process of settling in online platforms on an aesthetic and
interactive level. Likewise, the evidence of IGTV as a self-referencing and audience-attraction
tool through the thematic predisposition towards "soft news", the leadership of civil members,
the positive emotional appeal of the content and resources akin to informative
sensationalisation, although lacking a concrete communication strategy. [-]
