Diversidad familiar: un básico en la formación docente

Abstract

The freshly graduated teachers are aware, in general, that our training has only just started. Through interviews in different official entities, such as inquiries prior to the study itself, we found that there is little regulated education on some issues like family diversity. However, this knowledge is necessary to be able to give students the most complete and effective attention as possible. The aim of this work is to know, by means of a survey addressed to teachers from the province of Castellón (N = 191, 84.8% women), to what extent there is a lack of training / information on family diversity, more specifically in foster care. The results obtained show a high percentage of teachers who have not received training on family diversity, neither at the curricular level nor at continuing education level. In general, they do not know the protocols of action in these cases (58.1%), although having a foster care student makes teachers show a higher interest in being informed about how to proceed, decreasing the ignorance level to 28.2%. On the other hand, there are gender differences regarding the concern in this topic, being the female teachers -more than the male teachers- the ones who show a greater interest. In conclusion, integrating this type of education in the teacher training curriculum is suggested, being appropriate to cover different topics, so that each teacher can choose among a wide variety of options those that best suit the whole of their students.

Las personas recién graduadas en magisterio somos conscientes, en general, que nuestra formación no ha hecho más que dar comienzo. A través de entrevistas en distintos organismos oficiales, como indagaciones previas al propio estudio, comprobamos que existe poca formación regulada en cuanto a algunos temas como, por ejemplo, diversidad familiar. Sin embargo, este conocimiento es necesario para poder dar al alumnado una atención lo más completa y eficaz posible. El objetivo de este trabajo ha sido conocer mediante una encuesta a docentes de la provincia de Castellón (N=191, 84.8% mujeres) en qué medida existe falta de formación/información en diversidad familiar, más en concreto en acogimiento familiar. Los resultados muestran que un alto porcentaje de docentes no recibieron formación sobre diversidad familiar, ni a nivel curricular ni a nivel de formación continuada. Generalmente, desconocen los protocolos de actuación en estos casos (58.1%), aunque el hecho de tener un alumno o alumna de acogimiento familiar hace que los y las docentes muestren un mayor interés por informarse sobre cómo actuar, bajando el porcentaje de desconocimiento al 28.2%. Por otra parte, se observan diferencias de género respecto a la preocupación en este tema, siendo las –más que los– docentes quienes muestran un mayor interés. En conclusión, se sugiere integrar en el currículo de formación de magisterio este tipo de formación siendo conveniente que abarcase diferentes temáticas para que cada docente pueda escoger, entre una gran variedad de opciones, aquellas que más convengan al conjunto de su alumnado
