Nuevos ritmos, nuevas voces, feminismo y poesía estadounidense en el siglo XXI

Abstract

El presente trabajo consiste en el estudio de textos de una antología de poesía norteamericana publicada el pasado 2018 llamada Women of Resistance: Poems for a New Feminism, que consta de poemas de hasta cuarenta y nueve autoras. Por motivos de tiempo y espacio, nos centraremos en aquéllas que más nos han sorprendido por su estilo, mensaje y/o fuentes de inspiración. Para ello, haremos un repaso por la poesía estadounidense escrita por mujeres desde sus comienzos en el siglo XVII hasta la actualidad, analizando también algunos poemas que consideramos influencia clave para las poetas contemporáneas. Los poemas de esta antología presentan una visión del mundo heterogénea que, en conjunto, podría considerarse cercana a los retos de un «nuevo feminismo». Abordaremos las obras de Denice Frohman, Elizabeth Acevedo, Kim Addonizio y Rachel Mckibbens, entre otras. El objetivo es ofrecer un estudio muy actualizado, y eminentemente original, que visibilice las voces de estas autoras y de los colectivos de los que nos hablan. Deseamos que sus obras sean conocidas puesto que sus planteamientos pueden contribuir a la creación de una sociedad más justa y tolerante.

The work will be centered on the analysis of texts from an anthology of American poetry published in 2018 called Women of Resistance: Poems for a New Feminism, which consists of poems by up to forty-nine different authors, but we will focus on those that have surprised us the most owing to their style, message and/or sources of inspiration. To achieve our goals, we will review the American poetry written by women from its beginnings in the seventeenth century to the present, also analyzing some poems that we consider a key influence for contemporary poetesses. The poems of this anthology present a heterogeneus vision of the world but that together could be considered a «new feminism». We will talk about authors such as Denice Frohman, Elizabeth Acevedo, Kim Addonizio and Rachel Mckibbens among others. The objective is to offer a highly updated and eminently original study, which enhances the voice of these authors and the groups of those who they speak about, thus contributing to the creation of a more just and tolerant world.
