Relación de la deficiente higiene bucal y la consecuente aparición de patologías bucales con las enfermedades cardiovasculares. Revisión integradora.

Abstract

Introduction/Justification: Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is any disorder of the heart and the blood vessels. Periodontal diseases harm gums. Deficient oral hygiene is strongly related to the appearance of oral pathologies. Similarly, the former ones have a possible association with CVD. It should be ascertained if there is a possible effect of oral hygiene and oral pathologies on CVD. Objective: Identify the relationship of deficient oral hygiene and the consequent appearance of oral pathologies with cardiovascular diseases. Methodology: An integrative review is performed based on searches in eight databases (Cochrane Library, Cinahl, Ibecs, Lilacs, Medline, Pubmed, Scielo and Scopus) through the use of four keywords, limited by inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results: 21 articles were selected after applying the selection processes, from the following databases: 12 of Scopus, 6 of Pubmed, 2 of Ibecs and 1 of Cochrane Library. Articles published in 2014-2019. Conclusion: There is a disparity between the data that relate deficient oral hygiene and the incidence of CVD. The vast majority of articles show that periodontitis increases the occurrence of CVD. With regard to the association between gingivitis and CVD, it is not possible to draw a conclusion due to the limited literature available on this subject. However, in these relationships, there are different coadjuvant factors that make difficult to establish a direct relationship.

Introducción/Justificación: Enfermedad cardiovascular (ECV) es todo desorden del corazón y de los vasos sanguíneos. Las enfermedades periodontales perjudican las encías. Además, la deficiente higiene bucal está fuertemente relacionada con la aparición de las patologías bucales. De igual forma, estas últimas tienen una posible asociación con las ECV. Se debe averiguar si existe un posible efecto de la higiene bucal y las patologías bucales sobre las ECV. Objetivo: Identificar la relación de la deficiente higiene bucal y la consecuente aparición de patologías bucales con las enfermedades cardiovasculares. Metodología: Se realiza una revisión integradora en base a búsquedas en ocho bases de datos (Biblioteca Cochrane, Cinahl, Ibecs, Lilacs, Medline, Pubmed, Scielo y Scopus) mediante el uso de cuatro palabras clave, limitada por criterios de inclusión y exclusión. Resultados: 21 artículos fueron escogidos tras aplicar los procesos de selección, procedentes de las siguientes bases de datos: 12 de Scopus, 6 de Pubmed, 2 de Ibecs y 1 de Biblioteca Cochrane. Artículos publicados en 2014-2019. Conclusión: Existe disparidad entre los datos que relacionan una deficiente higiene bucal y la incidencia de ECV. La gran mayoría de artículos muestran que la periodontitis incrementa la aparición de ECV. Con respecto a la asociación entre la gingivitis y las ECV no es posible establecer una conclusión debido a la escasa literatura disponible acerca de este tema. Sin embargo, en estas relaciones existen diferentes factores coadyuvantes que dificultan establecer una relación directa.
