Nowadays, we are living a new paradigm respect to business world. Globalization phenomenon, Internet irruption, economic crisis and an infinite array of events are doing really hard the survival of many organizations. Nevertheless, we have clear examples of organizations which are achieve adapt to these changes and transform threats into opportunities. During the last decades, there is a term which has become very popular among academic studies like the solution or the key to survive in the long term. The ambidexterity is a very extend term and it is interesting the study in a company and how can affect in an empiric case.
The objective of the present study is to analyze the ambidexterity term and what conditions should exist in a company to take advantage of its virtues. A case of study of a successful retail company will be present because is one of the sectors with more changes in the last years and it is interesting discover if the ambidexterity has been one of the elements which has allowed guarantee the profitability in the company. With the support of my contractual relationship with Decathlon, the information gathering has been easier and also information is based in the experience.
Along the document we are going to analyze term like organizational learning or strategy management applying the ambidexterity concept. We are going to analyze what antecedents in the organization could have been the triggering’s of the ambidexterity phenomenon. Finally, we will discuss if Decathlon has demonstrated to be an ambidextrous organization and how has been beneficiated of the use of this success element. [-]
