objectives. The
aim
of t
his study is to determine if
information from the
media

ced
adolescents and their families in the decision of vaccination.

between 1994 and 2004
from
Illes Columbretes Health Center, being the cases
the ones
vaccinated against
HPV and controls those who did
n’t
. Variables assessed will be the kind of
information received and its influence on decision of vaccination.
RESULTS:
41.7% of
vaccinat
ed and 74.6% of
non
-
vaccinated admitted to have received
information through
the media
.
A
Chi square analysis (p = 0.000) and the Odds Ratio (0.243)
determine
a negative influence of
this
information on the decision to vaccinate, being the
Internet,
the Newspapers and Television
the ones that have shown statistically significant
differences i
n both groups.
CONCLUSION
: Information acquired by media has a negative influence in the decision of
vaccination against HPV in our sample. It will be necessary to increase the sample size of the
study to obtain results
which can be inferred to our study
population

OBJETIVO:
La vacuna
del Vir
us del Papiloma Humano (VPH)
se ha convertido
en el método
más eficaz
para
prevenir el
cáncer de cérvix, s
in embargo las tasa
s de vacunación no
alcanzan
los objetivos propuestos. El presente
trabajo
pretende
determinar si la información
mediática
transmitida tras su implantación ha
influido
sobre la decisión de vacunación de adolescentes y
sus familias.
MÉTODO
:
Se
realiza
un estudio observacional de
casos
-
controles
en
adolescentes
nacidas
entre
1994 y 2004 del
Centro de Salud Ill
es Columbretes, constituyendo
los
casos las
vacunadas
frente al VPH y los control
es aquellas que no
. Se evaluará el tipo de
información
recibida
y
su
influencia
en la decisión de vacunación.
RESULTADOS:
Un 41,7% de
vacunadas y un 74,6% de no vacunadas admite
haber recibido
información por
medios de comunicación
. E
l análisis Chi

cuadrado (p= 0,000) y de la Odds
Ratio (0,243)
determinan
una influencia negativa
de la misma
en la decisión
de
vacunar
, siendo
Internet, lo
s Periódicos y la Televisión
los
que han demostrado diferencias estadísticamente
significativas en ambos grupos.
CONCLUSIÓN:
La información
mediática
supone una influencia negativa para la vacunación
frente al HPV en nuestra muestra. Será necesario aumenta
r el tamaño muestral para obtener
resultados
inferibles a la población a estudio
