The role of the intangible assets has been increasing its importance since 1995 due to the digital revolution. Therefore, the objective of this paper is to explain how and how much invests Spain in these assets and to demonstrate their importance in the Spanish productivity. In order to do it a frontier analysis through Malmquist Index is realised and the change of productivity since 1995 until 2012 by Regions is analysed with and without intangible assets’ investment to show the improvement when this assets are included as a new input. In addition to the obtained conclusions, this thesis allows future researches the possibility to investigate about a better method to measure productivity which will be up to the technological progress.
