dc.description.abstract | Introduction: the protein - energy malnutrition appears between 18 - 75% of the patients in treatment with per itoneal dialysis (PD) depending on the evaluation method used. Malnourished patients present a cardiovascular risk and increased mortality. Obje c tives: To evaluate the evolution of the nutritiona l parameters measured by anthropometric methods and by electrical bioimpedance during the first two years that the patient remains on peritoneal dialysis. To assess if there are differences between the proportion of patients diagnosed of malnutri tion by th e different methods us e in each of the analyzed moments Methodology: This is a retrospective observational study to assess the nutritional status of patients in the peritoneal dialysis unit of the General University Hospital of Castellón using anthropomet ric parameters and multifrequency bioelectrical impedance. The data presented at the beginning, the year and the two years will be analyzed. Results: No statistically significant differences were found over time in the anthropometric parameters, with a we ight of 77.6 ± 20 kg at baseline compared with 77.6 ± 20.4 kg (NS) at the end and a BMI of 27.8 ± 5.5 to 27.9 ± 5.4 Kg / m2 (NS). However, the bioimpedance shows a trend that is not significant, except in the percentage of medications with FTI medication w here there is a significant decrease, from 43% to 20%. The rest of the malnutrition percentages are: BMI at the beginning 80% and at the end 86% (NS), LTI from 66% to 50% (NS), water from 56% to 60% (NS), angle phase from 76 to 63 % (NS). The FTI from 10.8 ± 6.5 to 11.9 ± 6 Kg / m2 (NS), LTI from 16.2 ± 3.5 to 15.3 ± 3.6 Kg / m2 (NS), water of 1 , 8 ± 2 to 1.1 ± 1.5 L (NS), phase angle from 5.5 ± 1 to 5.5 ± 0.9 ° (NS), E / I of 0, 9 ± 0.1L both at start as at the end of the study (NS). Conclusion: We did n ot find differences between the means of anthropometric parameters nor of bioimpedance over time. A significant decrease over time was observed in the percentage of malnourished patients measured by FTI and a non - significant decrease tendency measured by t he rest of the bioimpedance parameters. | ca_CA |
| ca_CA |
