The chemistry of polymers is a key topic in Sustainable Chemistry. In this report, the efficiency
in the separation of specially designed polymeric monolithic membranes to obtain biofuel
precursors will be discussed.
• Therefore, the general objective of this report has been to obtain porous polymeric
membranes to investigate a new and efficient form of synthesis of biofuel precursors that can be
used in the chemical industry. It is a promising project, since it intends to combine in situ the
reaction and separation stages.
• The specific objectives have been the following:
1. Obtaining porous polymeric membranes by combination of acrylic and styrenic monomers.
2. Synthesizing and characterizing the different non-commercial compounds designed to react
with the membranes for their modification.
3. Transforming the polymer membranes obtained to introduce Ionic Liquid fragments by
reaction with imidazoles.
4. To study the physico-chemical properties of the prepared membranes. [-]
