The movement B-Corp is a new way to visualize the new emerging businesses that
came to our world in 2006. This research is carried out in order to deepen knowledge
of this B movement at the international level. In addition, we are trying to understand
the patterns that underlie the geographical location of these companies. It may be
interesting for all companies wishing to integrate into this movement.
Specifically, this study aims to answer questions like Where B corps have been most
successful? What sectors are the most commonly used for creating a B corp? What are
the characteristics of a country that encourage the creation of these businesses? Why?
In order to investigate this, we have taken the data of enterprises B-Corp on their
official website and we have also analyze various characteristics of the countries where
they have been created with the intention of forming a pattern of behavior that will allow
us to explain the principle role model in the creation of the B corps.
As a result of that, we obtain that the B corps tend to be located in countries with high
human development index, a high degree of pollution and a high rate of Doing
Business. On the contrary, these companies have no significance in countries with low
human development index, low contamination and low rate by Doing Business. In
addition, these companies succeed in industrial sectors, such as Food and Beverage
and Marketing.
Be knowledgeable of this information will help all those people interested in the
movement B-Corp to understand the evolution of them, the sectors where more
success has this certification about social impact. We also shall provide information
about which threats and opportunities can be found according to the choice of location
and sector. [-]
