Analysis of the Endesa Foundation through economic and financial indicators

Abstract

Non-Profit Entities (ESFL, in Spanish) and, particularly, foundations play an essential role in society as they face the social needs that are not met by profitable industries nor the public sector. Foundations prioritize the social welfare of the citizens over the benefits of its participants or members of the foundation; however, this does not make a foundation less valuable. The accounting information is key to find out about the foundation’s situation and, also, to get to know whether they are fulfilling their social objectives or about the use of their resources. Hence, through this paper, it is intended to provide an accounting analysis of these entities by introducing the concept, the characteristics, regulations, and accounting obligations. We will present an in-depth analysis of the accounting data of Endesa Foundation; thus, we will carry out an accounting analysis of the results with the purpose of evaluating its evolution, economic and financial feasibility, its efficiency, and the degree of fulfilment of its foundational purposes. Finally, the results obtained will be compared with respect to Iberdrola Spain Foundation
