The aim of this work is to investigate the relation between income and happiness
focusing on Spain in order to test if there is evidence for the so called Easterlin
paradox. To reach this goal we carry out a very simple analysis in order to measure the
effect of income on the probability to be happy. In fact, we run a probit regression to
measure the impact of income on the probability of both to be happy and extremely
happy. The conclusion is that the level of income has an effect on happiness but up to
a certain level. So, also in Spain, we find some evidence for the Easterlin Paradox. The
main implication of this result is that we may re-think the goodness of the GDP per
capita as a well-being measure. [-]
