Objective:
Identify
food habits and lifestyle in teenagers
of
a school in Valencia.
Material and methods: Distribution of a survey based on questions from Mediterranean Diet
Adhesion Questionnaire and ENSE Questionnaire to a sample of 98 high school stude
nts. The
su
rvey indicates, from 0 to 14 points,
whether the adherence to the Mediterranean diet was
low (0
-
6), intermediate (7
-
8) or high
(9
-
14). Gender, age, weight and
height from each
participant were
registered
, a
s
well as the breakfast, alcohol and tobacco consu
mption habits
Results: The sample
consisted of
47 women and 51 men aged
from 16 to
19 years.
36% of the
students had a low adhesion
to Mediterranean Diet and 10%
a
high
adhesion
. 28,57%
of the
participants
eat vegetables and
do not
present obesity or over
weight. 25,51% of the students
do not eat
breakfast. 95
,
12% of the students with underweight or normal weight
agree
with
their nutritional condition and their body self
-
image. 95,92% of the students
admit that they
consume
alcohol occasionally and 34,7%
to
bacco.
Conclusions: There is
a
low
percentage of
the
students with high
adhesion to the
m
editerranean diet. The
suitable
vegetable
consumption
could be considerate
d
as a protective
factor
against
obesity and overweight. It has been manifested an inappropr

consumption of
the food recommend

. El
28,57% consume verduras y no presenta obesidad ni sobrepeso. Un 25,51% de los alumnos
no desayuna.
