Análisis del tratamiento discursivo de la transexualidad en la cobertura de los diarios españoles: los casos de El Paíos.com, El Mundo.es, Píkara Magazine y Revista Zero.

Abstract

The informative treatment of vulnerable groups such as sexual minorities often falls into stereotypes, displays errors in the drafting and rarely includes expert sources. In addition, there are few studies devoted to this issue. With the aim of deepening the knowledge of this subject, this research reviewed the treatment discursivo of transsexuality in two Spanis h media generalists, E l País and El Mundo , and in two specialized med ia, Píkara Magazine an Zero Magazine . Specifically, through the analysis of quantitative content of all pieces on transsexuality disseminated in the online editions of these four publications during six months. The investigation com pares the construction of identity of the tran sgender people in the four different media platforms to determine the subjects to be associated with , the lexicon used, the sources most frequently consulted and the approach of the news on this group. In this way, it seeks to determine if the news analyzed favor the visibility in the media and the social integration of the collective transsexual or if, on the contrary, promote the rejection of the sexual difference. The results indicate four trends in the medi a analyzed. In the first place, a high participation of the collective transsexual as sources of information. The transphobia as a main theme next to the claim by the social integration of this collective. A bad use of the lexicon at the time of treating m ediáticamente transsexuality and finally a positive approach generic in favor of transsexuality.

El tratam iento informativo de colectivos vulnerables como las minorías sexuales suele caer en estereotipos, presenta errores en la redacción y apenas incluye fuentes expertas. Además, existen pocos estudios dedicados a esta cuestión. Con el objetivo de profundizar en el conocimiento de este asunto, esta investigación revisa el tratamiento discursivo de la transexualidad en dos medios españoles generalistas, El País y El Mundo, y en dos medios especializados, Píkara Magazine y Revista Zero . Concretamente, a través de l análisis de contenido cuantitativo, se analizan todas las piezas sobre transexualidad difundidas en las ediciones online de estas cuatro publicaciones durante seis meses. La investigación compara la construcción de identidad de las personas transexuales en los cuatro medios, para determinar los temas a los que se asocian, el léxico utilizado, las fuentes más consultadas y el enfoque de las noticias sobre este colectivo. De este modo, se pretende determinar si las noticias analizadas favorecen la visibilid ad mediática y la integración social del colectivo transexual o si, por el contrario, fomentan el rechazo a la diferencia sexual. Los resultados indican cuatro tendencias en los medios analizados. En primer lugar , u na alta participación del colectivo tran sexual como fuentes de información. La transfobia como una temática principal junto a la reivindicación por la integración social de este colectivo. Un mal uso del léxico a la hora de tratar mediáticamente la transexualidad y finalmente un enfoque positiv o genérico a favor de la transexualidad
