The current advertising situation has nothing to do with the classic publicity
business model. The burden of the global economic crisis of recent years, along
with the advent of the Internet, digital media and social networks, have ended
up disrupting the prospect that we knew so far.
But that is not all, we must add the disruption of the public and audiences. Mass
audiences are no longer efficient in the 21st century. Almost personalized
communication is the main trend. But it not only changes the way we address
our audience, but also changes the public with future generations.
Millennials, are the pioneers in the technological revolution that has changed
everything. This new public has new ways of relating, new consumption habits
and communication with brands.
The innovations of the millennials are based on the characteristics they possess
and that make them unique: technology. It is the natural tool for young people in
their day to day activities: the Internet, smartphones and social networks have
become an indispensable part of their lives. But how do they feel? They are
unhappy and sceptical, tend to trust people less than previous generations,
declare themselves independent and tend to have greater political and religious
discontent.
Millennials have a very particular way of consuming, dealing with brands,
participating with them. Therefore, they need brands to speak their language
and make them feel part of their marketing strategies. If brands want to fall in love with what is already the largest generation in the world, it must be
governed by "millennial marketing". [-]
