In the late 17th century, the Alagon family from Sardinia, marquis of Villasor, would face one of the biggest challenges of their history: their succession and the transmission of their noble titles and fiefdoms was being threatened because their only offspring was a woman. Approaching the peculiar heritage system from Sardinia, as well as the family development, we aim to show the effort made in order to grant the heirdom and the continuity of one of the greatest noble houses of the Mediterranean island. In order to achieve this goal, we focus in two female characters: doña Teresa Pimentel y Bazán and her granddaughter and final heir, doña Emanuela de Alagón. The first one as an active agent that granted the succession, and the second one as a key character that continued with the family name and properties. [-]
