The global expansion of the private sector and the increase in transnational economic activity have introduced many changes in businesses and have had an impact on human rights, giving rise to fundamental norms and voluntary initiatives that provide useful guidelines in respect of these basic rights. There are two main objectives of this work; at the theoretical level it is a review of the regulatory framework and international standards. On the other hand, it provides empirical analysis of the two Spanish hotel chains listed Meliá and NH. Firstly, identifying indicators of human rights in GRI sustainability reports, secondly reviewing information published by these hotel companies and thirdly, proposing a methodology which measures the information provided, allowing a comparative analysis of the depth of the same with the existing regulations.
