dc.description.abstract | INTRODUCTION: According to data from the National Institute of Statistics (2012), there are around 22,938 homeless in Spain, being Andalusia the third community with the highest prevalence of this problem, and Granada itself being a suitable city for this population . The reality that these people suffer goes beyond poverty, being a set of individual, social and mental disorders factors that facilitate and maintain that situation. OBJETIVE: To explore the sociodemographic profile of homeless in the city of Granada, addressing equally mental disorder, stressful life events (SLE), positive variables and coping styles. METHOD: The sample included 30 participants from whom sociodemographic data was collected, and the presence of mental disorder, SLE, optimism, coping styles and post-traumatic growth were evaluated. RESULTS: The profile found indicates that it is mainly a male person, of average age, Spanish nationality, single and with a primary level of education. In addition, they presented a low rate of mental disorder and a high SLE index. Finally, we found high levels of optimism, low levels of post-traumatic growth, and differences between coping blockade and cognitive coping in homeless according to their mental disorder. CONCLUSIONS: This study shows that homelessness is a multi-causal phenomenon where the absence of economic resources, a large number of SLE, addiction problems and the absence of a social support network come together as part of the etiology and the maintenance of this problem. | ca_CA |
| ca_CA |
