Treball Final de Grau en Disseny i Desenvolupament de Videojocs. Codi: VJ1241. Curs acadèmic: 2015/2016ca_CA
The project involves the design and development of a video game in different phases to create the illusion of an open world, where players control a rabbit and whose freedom is restricted to go to a house. Go where the player go in the procedural world, it will find the house always, along with a foreign giant and some carrots which can obey players’ orders or be beaten by them. In this way it was created the concept worked in this Final Degree Project: "Open Limited World". Thus, the project is made following planning guidelines with three distinct phases of development: preproduction, production and postproduction. Temporary resources dedicated to each element of the game are detailed in this document and they have been modified during the performance of the TFG. During the first phase of creation it took into account the background story of the game. In the game the story that has taken place in the world is not explained. Also, the main character’s background is not discussed. Instead, all the elements that compose the game have a built story. To do this it has been created a mobile App where users can see (interactively) the story that has been created for the game and the controls to play the 3D videogame. All this constitutes the Lore of the game, which will be discussed later. At this stage the idea of game (in terms of gameplay and art) are designed. It have been created different drawings, blueprints and concepts to create the world of The Land. The second phase begins with the creation of the 3D world and the different elements that make up the game programming. First, the main character and the two secondary ones have been modeled, their animations have been made and they have been textured. At the same time, it has been modeled and textured the house. It has been worked at a programming level the character movement, to be handled smoothly with a gamepad or keyboard and an AI of one of the secondary characters (carrots). It has been created a procedural and infinite bulky world, where the protagonist can move freely. Also, it has been created a grass shader to give color and fill the world. Finally, physical elements of the game, as physical clothing or physical Ragdoll in the carrots, have been created. In the third and final phase of the game’s development testing of all the created elements was performed, to search errors and improve the experience. It has been refined elements such as the 3D models of the characters, their textures and the code itself.ca_CA
