Estudio del suspense en los inicios de Alejandro Amenábar

Abstract

En este Trabajo Final de Grado se analiza el uso del suspense en los inicios de Alejandro Amenábar a través del análisis de tres escenas pertenecientes a diferentes películas. Amenábar es un director que desde temprana edad comenzó a interesarse por un cine encaminado hacia el terror y el impacto en el espectador, siendo el suspense uno de los recursos más utilizados para conseguir su objetivo. Amenábar plantea un cine de preguntas y reflexivo, donde el miedo a la muerte logra condicionar las acciones de los personajes en numerosas ocasiones. El objetivo de esta investigación es averiguar cómo el director es capaz de crear el suspense en sus obras, descubriendo si utiliza los mismos elementos o estructura en todas ellas, o podemos apreciar variaciones en su forma de plantearlo de una película a otra. Los filmes en los que centraré mi investigación y posterior análisis son Tesis (1996), Abre los ojos (1997) y Los otros (2001). Así pues, a través del estudio de una escena perteneciente a cada una de las películas mencionadas, pretendo estudiar qué caracteriza a la creación del suspense en el cine de Alejandro Amenábar y cómo la relación entre diferentes elementos (montaje, iluminación, música, entre otros) actúa a la hora de generar tensión en el espectador.

In this investigation we are going to analyze the use of suspense in the beginnings of Alejandro Amenábar through the analysis of three scenes of each movie. Amenábar is a director that showed interest in horror and shocking movies since young age, being suspense one of the most used resources at his films to get his aim. Amenábar raises a reflexive cinema that makes questions, where the fear of death in several occasions can determine the actions of the characters. The objective of this investigation is to find out how the director is able to create suspense on his work, discovering if he uses the same elements or structure in all of them, or we can see variations on his way to show it from a movie to another. The films we are going to focus the investigation and the following analyses are Tesis (1996), Abre los ojos (1977) and Los otros (2001). Therefore, through the study of one scene from each of the mentioned movies, we are going to study what characterized the creation of suspense in the cinema of Alejandro Amenábar, and how the relation between different elements (editing, illumination, music, among others) act at the moment to create tension on the spectator.
