X-Men, one of the most popular superhero comic books, is a series based on characters whose powers are the consequence of a genetic mutation. The concepts and plots of the original comic books were successfully adapted to Hollywood cinema, a hegemonic industry in the context of the contemporary mundialized culture. From the perspective of gender, this article aims to critically analyse certain female characters, which are narratively relevant, and their connection to the stereotype of the femme fatale. [-]

Uno de los cómics norteamericanos de superhéroes más populares es X-Men, centrado en personajes cuyos poderes son fruto de una mutación genética. Los conceptos y argumentos del cómic original dieron el salto audiovisual al cine de Hollywood –hegemónico en la industria cultural mundializada- destacando el éxito general de los films inspirados en la franquicia. El presente trabajo tiene como objeto analizar críticamente, desde un enfoque de género, la singularidad cualitativa de ciertos personajes femeninos narrativamente relevantes, (anti)heroínas o villanas, y su relación como representaciones fantásticas de la feminidad con el estereotipo ficcional de la femme fatale.
