The Spanish ceramic industry specialising in ceramic tiles (ceramic pavement and
coating) is geographically located, almost exclusively, in the Castellón area, in the
territory covered by L’Alcora and Borriol, to the north; Onda, to the west; Nules, to
the south; and Castellón de la Plana, to the east. Around 94% of the domestic
production of ceramic tiles is produced in the said area, where 80% of the sector
companies are established. Within this ceramic cluster stands Jaume I University,
which is celebrating this year its 25th anniversary. [-]
