Lexicography has not been seen as a discipline itself. There have been
so many discussions about it and the opinions differ from each other.
Within this discipline, dictionaries are of great importance in the field.
They are seen as reference tools. This project includes the presentation
of a bilingualised LSP dictionary on Gender Violence. Some studies
state that bilingualised dictionaries are the most effective ones, in front
of monolingual and bilingual dictionaries. However, the effectiveness
of one or another depends on the needs of the user. The objective of this
paper is to present an alleged implementation of the already mentioned
LSP dictionary and its importance in language teaching and learning.
The dictionary is mainly addressed to law students at a university level,
however, psychology and crimonolohy students could also benefit from
it. The dictionary may be used as an auxiliary tool that can be accesed
during the degree studies as well as for future professional use.
Dictionaries help users in both comprehension and production; it helps
them, for instance, to accurately understand and interpret correctly
specific-field texts such as formal reports or criminal records, as well
as to facilitate the task of producing formal speeches and to adequately
choose the specific words that suit the specific context. [-]
