| ca_CA |
dc.description.abstract | The traditional media have undergone changes due to the apparition of the Internet. Digital technologies allow the scientific mass media the use of new resources to adapt to the current competition. This study analyses the uses and functions of the digital versions of Muy Interesante, Quo and Materia, without neglecting the printed versions of these magazines and their activity on social networks. The methodology employed is an analysis of quantitative and qualitative content of the journalistic issues published by the three publications with their representative digital editions during three months time. Thereon, the sample consists of 1,365 newspaper texts published by the three media on their websites between January and March of 2016. Furthermore, the content analysis is supplemented with three detailed interviews to the directors of the three periodicals. The purpose is to determine the strategies the media use to take better advantage of the digital technologies. The results indicate that the media publish more texts on their websites than on the printed versions, resulting in completely different media due to the low repetition of publications. In addition, the media take advantage of the tools provided by Internet, such as hypertextuality, multimedia and interactivity to improve their content. Users interact with the three publications, adding comments and sharing the content on social networks such as Twitter and Facebook, although these media never include feedback in their texts to answer the doubts and opinions that the readers have. | ca_CA |
