The photogeneration of singlet oxygen with different materials has emerged as object of study because of its range of applications were Photodynamic Therapy of Cancer (PDT) has great relevance. In this context it was decided to evaluate a series of metal clusters of Mo3S7, coordinated to organic ligands, as possible singlet oxygen photogenerators, since they have not been studied as photosensitizers to date.
The aim of our work is to evaluate this type of metal clusters as photosensitizers, so we present herein a series of studies aimed at the quantification of singlet oxygen generated upon illumination of a set of Mo3S7 clusters functionalized with different organic ligands and also a comparison with some of the most common photosensitizers in order to know if they are interesting singlet oxygen generators.
Photoirradiations procedures with artificial and solar light have been done. Finally, the consolidation of one of the clusters as a good photogenerator of singlet oxygen is demonstraded. [-]
