Festuca arundinacea’s vegetal cover favours the regulation of the Tetranychus urticae spider mite population within the clementine mandarin tree crop. The said cover hosts diverse, abundant populations of Phytoseiidae predatory mites, as well as continuous, high populations of Anaphothrips obscurus grass-based thrips. This paper discusses the repercussion of the presence of A. obscurus in the biological control of T. urticae in clementine trees. It analyses their quality as prey and their preference against T. urticae when they are offered simultaneously to the main phytoseiidae within this agroecosystem. [-]
