The role of women represented in Cosmopolitan magazine

Abstract

This paper examines the role of women represented in the famous magazine Cosmopolitan. Nowadays, feminism is an increasing movement in our society. Despite this fact, women are usually portrayed in magazines as an object of desire and not as a human being. This representation is usually hidden behind the language used in articles found in women’s magazines but if they are analyzed deeper, looking at the different connotations of language and the way these ideas are written, the results will show that despite being in the 21st century, women are still suffering the sexist heritage that mass media have left in society.
