¿CUECES O ENRIQUECES? GÉNERO, COCINA Y REPRESENTACIÓN EN EL CINE CONTEMPORÁNEO

Abstract

Las viejas dicotomías en torno al espacio público/privado ubican a las mujeres en el segundo, y más concretamente en la cocina, como una suerte de imposición cultural que tiene más de ocupación abnegada que del componente hedonista asociado a los placeres de la buena mesa. A menudo, el cine se interesa por historias y argumentos relacionados con el mundo de la cocina, las celebraciones gastronómicas o la importancia cultural de determinados alimentos. Resulta muy interesante detenerse en el rol de las mujeres en este contexto e interrogarse acerca de las representaciones propuestas por las ficciones cinematográficas. A lo largo del análisis de diferentes películas irán aflorando elementos y rasgos de caracterización propios que nos ayudarán a determinar qué parámetros se ponen en juego desde el punto de vista del género en este tipo de ficciones

Old dichotomies between public and private spheres locate women in the latter, more specifically in the kitchen, as a type of cultural imposition more related to selfless toil than to the hedonism associated with the pleasures of eating well. The cinema often shows interest in stories and plots related to the world of cookery, gastronomic celebrations or the cultural importance of specific foods. Consequently, it is of great interest to delve into the role of women in this context and to question the representations put forward by cinematographic fictions. In this essay we will analyse different films and different elements a features of women’s portrayal will surface which will help us to determine from a gender perspective which factors come into play in these types of fictions
