The main objective of this essay is to demonstrate the FDI-growth nexus and to clarify
the role of some local conditions in the host economy on this relationship. The
evolution of FDI in international capital flows has been described, as well as theoretical
arguments and empirical evidence about the FDI-growth nexus and the absorptive
capacities has been reviewed. Here it is analyzed the case of Mexico covering the
period 2000-2012 with time series data from World Bank (2014) and CEPAL (2014),
using the OLS method with the Gretl software. The results show significant and positive
effect of FDI on growth. [-]
