La agricultura española en perspectiva

Abstract

En este artículo se examinan los cambios acelerados de la agricultura. El alza sistemática y global de los precios de las materias primas agrarias se relaciona con los cambios en la demanda vinculados al crecimiento de la renta disponible y la urbanización, y con las políticas agrarias restrictivas en la producción de algunos países. El autor defiende una agricultura más productive a través del regadío y la genética. En tal context, se debate el future del sistema agro-alimentario español bajo las reglas de una PAC no siempre ajustada a las necesidades de cada momento y con la escasez de mano de obre especializada, el intervencionismo en material de tierras, aguas y medioambiente, y la escasa dimension de las empresas agrarias. El autor aboga por un Nuevo modelo productive, europeo y espeñol, con una tendencia hacia políticas de seguridad alimentaria.

This article examines the rapidly-occurring change in agriculture. The systematic and global rise in the price of agricultural raw materials is related to the changes in demand linked to the growth in the available income and to urban development, together with the restrictive agricultural policies in the production of some countries. The author defends a more productive agriculture by way of irrigation and genetics. In this context, we discuss the future of the Spanish food processing system according to the rules of a CAP not always in line with the needs at the time and with the shortage of skilled labour, interventionism in land, water and environmental matters, and the small size of agriculture enterprise. The author advocates a new productive European and Spanish model, with a trend towards food security policies
