A classical problem in celestial mechanics is the study of equilibrium configuration figures of extended deformable bodies. A particularly interesting case of this problem is the study of the figures of equilibrium of close binary systems. In this paper an improved theory of tidal potential using Clairaut coordinates has been developed by two methods, one based in analytical developments and one iterative.ca_CA
