Abstract

Just like every year, Christmas-time wreaks havoc.

Some of the problems are physical and affect our health

as a result of those instances of culinary foolishness

that still bear the mark of the family farm or, in other

words, fattening up at any price. Others, however, are

of an economic nature, which still hurt but this time the

victim is our pocket, and they help make a few merchants

wealthier (unfortunately the best-fed), leaving the others

penniless. Others still are political, above all in this year

in which elections were held on such a fateful date and

have spawned a government that they say is made up of

technocrats who will lead us out of the crisis (which we

believe without hesitation, since the person responsible for

the economy is none other than one of the executives of

Lehman Brothers in Europe). Others are of a social nature,

with the increase in unemployment, whose tolerable

limit was surpassed years ago and which, in view of the

measures that have been taken, will keep on rising until, if

there is indeed some god to hear us out there, outrage puts

an end to the outrageous…

Como todos los años, las fechas navideñas hacen estragos. Los hay físicos, que aquejan a la salud por esos despropósitos culinarios que todavía tienen la marca de la granja familiar o, lo que es lo mismo, engordar a cualquier precio; otros son económicos, que también hacen daño, pero al bolsillo, y contribuyen a enriquecer a algunos comerciantes –infelizmente, los más cebados– dejando al resto a dos velas; los hay políticos, sobre todo en este año de elecciones en fecha infame que han dado a luz a un gobierno dicen que de tecnócratas que nos sacarán de la crisis (lo creemos a pie juntillas, ya que al frente de la economía hay ni más ni menos que uno de los que fueron responsables para Europa de Lehman Brothers); los hay sociales, con el aumento del paro, cuyo límite permisible ya ha sido rebasado hace años y que, a la vista de las medidas adoptadas, seguirá aumentando hasta que, si existe algún dios nos oiga, la indignación acabe con lo indignante…
