Una década desigual para los mayores que llegaron tarde al ciberespacio

Abstract

El presente artículo tiene el objetivo de ofrecer una visión del estado del equipamiento y uso del ciberespacio en las generaciones mayores de 44 años durante la primeradécada del siglo XXI. El artículo delimita la idea de generacióncomoconcepto explicativo del fenómeno de la brecha digital por edad. Seguidamente se analizan los “Datos de equipamiento” y la “Evolución de datos de personas” del INE, para finalmente centrarse en la explotación de estudios del Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas sobre uso de las TIC. La investigación permite observar consecuencias para la ciudadanía digital de los mayores en la expansión del ciberespacio.

This article aims to provide an overview of the situation in the first decade of the 21st century with regard to internet equipment and use among the generations over 44 years of age. The article delimits the idea of “generation” as the concept explaining the digital gap by age. It goes on to analyse the “Equipment data” and the information on the “Development of data on people” issued by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), to finally concentrate on the exploration of studies on IT use published by the Centro de Investigaciones Sociológicas.
