Sobre una figurita de terracota de Torre la Sal (Ribera de Cabanes, Castellón)

Abstract

A partir del hallazgo casual de una pequeña figura de terracota recogida hace años en la misma playa de Torre de la Sal, de los indicios materiales, y de las excavaciones en tierra y mar, es evidente que este enclave, fue un importante centro de intercambio comercial orientado preferentemente hacia el ámbito púnico. Sin embargo, esta pieza, de pequeño tamaño en forma de mujer con manto y niño en brazos, presenta tanto un contenido iconográfico que manifiesta una confluencia de tradiciones religiosas, como una divinidad protectora de la navegación y propiciadora de las transacciones comerciales. Así, terracotas similares podrían pertenecer a épocas más recientes, relacionadas con la trashumancia aún presentes en este tramo de costa.

From the chance discovery of a small terracotta figure collected years ago on the same beach of Torre de la Sal, from the material evidence, and from the excavations on land and sea, it is evident that this enclave was an important center of exchange commercial oriented preferably towards the punic area. However, this small piece in the form of a woman with a cloak and a child in her arms, presents so an iconographic content that shows as a confluence of religious traditions as a divinity that protects navigation and promotes commercial transactions. Thus, similar terracottas could belong to more recent times, related to transhumance still present in this stretch of coast.
