El urbanismo de la Valencia musulmana a través del Llibre del Repartiment

Abstract

De la urbe musulmana de Balansiya de mediados del siglo XIII se tienen pocos indicios. Sin embargo, el Llibre del Repartiment supone un valioso documento para establecer la topografía urbana de la Valencia árabe en el momento de la conquista cristiana. Nombres de calles, barrios, atzucachs, edificios singulares, propiedades de personajes insignes, etc. se suceden a lo largo de todo el texto. Su búsqueda sistemática catalogando cada una de las referencias para obtener un mapa aproximado de la parte de la medina ubicada al sureste de la puerta de la Boatella ha sido el objetivo de esta investigación. Se han localizado los barrios de Abencalbo, Alhadromi, Axigara y Algalga; y los atzucach Avinaçalel, Alfaz, y Cavaçavery. También se han detectado dos baños, cinco hornos, cuatro alfondechs y cuatro mezquitas. Todo ello ha sido representado sobre un plano actual de la ciudad.

There is little evidence of the Muslim city of Balansiya in the mid-13th century. However, the Llibre del Repartiment is a valuable document to establish the urban topography of the Arab Valencia at the time of the Christian conquest. Names of streets, neighborhoods, atzucachs, singular buildings, properties of distinguished individuals...etc. are found throughout the text. Their systematic search by cataloging each of the references to obtain an approximate map of the part of the medina located southeast of the Boatella gate has been the objective of this research. The neighborhoods of Abencalbo, Alhadromi, Axigara and Algalga have been located; and the atzucach Avinaçalel, Alfaz, and Cavaçavery. Two baths, five ovens, four alfondechs and four mosques have also been detected. All this has been represented on a current plan of the city.
