Les societats caçadores i recol·lectores al terme de Vilafranca

Abstract

En els darrers 15 anys el terme de Vilafranca ha estat l’objecte de diversos projectes d’investigació destinats a aprofundir en el coneixement sobre el poblament prehistòric i l’art rupestre del terme municipal. En aquest treball realitzem una síntesi dels resultats de les excavacions arqueològiques realitzades al llarg d’aquests anys en diversos jaciments, i que han convertit a Vilafranca en una de les localitats més importants per al coneixement del final del paleolític i del mesolític a la península Ibèrica. Fruit d’aquestes recerques, avui sabem que les evidències més antigues de presència humana es remunten ja a moments vinculats a grups neandertals. Encara que parlem d’una petita evidència, el que com a mínim podem apuntar és que aquestes poblacions van passar per aquest territori. Però és cap a finals del paleolític quan el poblament humà s’intensifica i es consolida. També sabem que en aquesta zona van habitar alguns dels darrers grups caçadors i recol·lectors, just abans i durant el moment d’arribada de les primeres comunitats ramaderes i agrícoles del neolític.

In the last 15 years the Vilafranca has been the subject of several research projects aimed at deepening knowledge of the prehistoric population and the rock art of the municipality. In this work we carry out a synthesis of the results of the archaeological excavations carried out over the years in various sites, and which have made Vilafranca one of the most important localities for the knowledge of the end of the Palaeolithic and the Mesolithic in the Iberian Peninsula. As a result, today we know that the oldest evidence of human presence goes back to moments linked to Neanderthal groups. Although we are talking about small evidence, what we can at least point to is that these populations passed through this territory. But it is towards the end of the Palaeolithic when the human settlement intensifies and consolidates. We also know that in this area some of the last hunting and gathering groups inhabited, just before and during the arrival of the first livestock and agricultural communities of the Neolithic.
