introduction: The consumption of tv series is common and is increasingly wi- despread. Nevertheless, in some people this consumption can become dys- functional. It could be explored whether the identified link in the literature bet- ween different problematic consumptions and the need of emotional regulation can be extrapolated to this behavior. Therefore, our aim is to explore the asso- ciation between problematic tv series consumption and affectivity. It was hypo- thesized that a higher affective intensity will be linked to problematic consump- tion. method: 113 persons (52.21% women) with an average age of 24.57 years (sd=5.71) completed the Spanish adaptations of the Binge-Watching Engage- ment and Symptoms Questionnaire (Bwesq) and the Positive and Negative Affect Schedule (PaNas) voluntarily and anonymously. results: 46.1% of the sample reports that, weekly, consumed several episodes of tv series in the same ses- sion, while 8.1% did so daily. In addition, 37% expressed that this consumption had had some negative impact on their lives. On the one hand, a positive and significant association was observed between negative affect and the dimen- sions «Dependence» (r=.330; p=.000) and «Loss of control» (r=.198; p=.036), while, on the other hand, the association was negative between positive affect and the dimensions «Loss of control» (r=-.345; p=.000), «Binge eating» (r=-.320; p=.001) and «Dependence» (r=-.264; p=.005). Conclusions: Thus, affection, as in other problematic behaviors, was an influencing factor in problematic con- sumption of tv series. Both the experience of unpleasant emotions and the ab- sence of pleasant and positive emotions are related to this consumption pattern. [-]
