El impacto de la pandemia por COVID-19 en la salud mental de la población española

Abstract

1. Introducción La pandemia provocada por el COVID-19 ocasionó una serie de efectos adversos en la salud mental de la población, produciendo un aumento de los trastornos mentales debido a un cambio en el ámbito tanto personal, social, académico y laboral. 2. Objetivos El objetivo principal de esta revisión literaria es explicar con fundamentos científicos el impacto y los efectos de la pandemia en la salud mental de la población española y en los distintos grupos sociales y así justificar la necesidad de una mejora en la atención sanitaria de la Salud Mental. 3. Metodología La búsqueda bibliográfica de los artículos se realizó en las siguientes bases de datos: Pubmed, Cochrane Library, IBECS, SciELO, Google Académico y ÍnDICEs- CSIC. Se utilizó el lenguaje controlado tanto DeCS como MeSH y se aplicaron los filtros: “free full text”, “tres años”, “inglés”, “español” y “catalán”. 4. Resultados A partir de la estrategia de búsqueda y tras la aplicación de filtros y criterios de selección se obtuvieron los artículos seleccionados para evaluarlos a través de la herramienta CASPe. Tras el análisis, se incluyeron en esta revisión los artículos de mayor calidad metodológica. 5. Conclusiones La pandemia por COVID-19 ha tenido un gran impacto en la salud mental de la población en general, especialmente en grupos vulnerables como las personas mayores, niños y adolescentes, mujeres, personas con antecedentes de enfermedades mentales y trabajadores de salud. Es necesario mejorar la atención sanitaria en salud mental.

Background The COVID-19 pandemic caused a series of adverse effects on the mental health of the population, leading to an increase in mental disorders due to a change in the personal, social, academic and work environment. 2. Objectives The main objective of this literary review is to explain with scientific foundations the impact and effects of the pandemic on the mental health of the Spanish population and in the different social groups and thus justify the need for an improvement in the health care of Mental Health. 3. Methodology The bibliographic search for articles was carried out in the following databases: Pubmed, Cochrane Library, IBCES, SciELO, Google Scholar and ÍnDICEs-CSIC. Both DECS and MeSH controlled language were used, and the filters "free full text", "three years", "English", "Spanish", and "Catalan" were applied. 4. Outcomes After the search strategy and the application of filters and selection criteria, the selected articles were obtained to be evaluated through the CASPe tool. After the analysis, the articles with the highest methodological quality were included in this review. 5. Conclusions The COVID-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on the mental health of the general population, especially on vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children and adolescents, women, people with a history of mental illness and healthcare workers. Improving mental healthcare is necessary.
