In gender-based violence (GBV) there is not only one victim. The children
and adolescents of the women who suffer this violence are also victims. This type of violence
is called vicarious violence, where the aggressor's aim is to harm the mother through her
children.
Sometimes, the children of women who are victims of GBV visit with the parent at
the Family Meeting Points (PEF), under the supervision of professionals.
The following intervention proposal consists of a training program for PEF
professionals to detect vicarious violence. This training is divided into three blocks: creation
of a safe space with the child, detection of signs of vicarious violence and legal knowledge
about this violence.
The objective of this training is that professionals are able to detect signs of this type
of violence in order to subsequently inform the Public Prosecutor's Office and implement
protective measures for both the mother and the child. [-]
