| ca_CA |
dc.description.abstract | Streamers have become a booming form of entertainment for young people, with figures such as Ibai, Rubius and Illojuan as references. These streamers raise a feeling of generational relay of digital platforms against traditional media. Social networks are the main working tool of these figures, with Twitch being the main focus of their content, as well as using other platforms such as YouTube, Twitter, Instagram or TikTok. The main objective of the study is to find out how the different social networks work and what role they play in creating a success story on Twitch. The other objectives of this dissertation are: to contribute to the knowledge of the Twitch platform in the digital platform ecosystem as a whole, to study the functioning of the Twitch platform in depth, to study the interrelationship between the different networks in the streamer ecosystem and to identify growth patterns of streamers in social networks. For this purpose, a corpus of analysis of the top 10 streamers on the Twitch platform was carried out based on subscriptions in March 2023, analysing the parameters of the aforementioned social networks. On the Twitch platform, we analysed total hours streamed, historical average number of viewers, average number of broadcasts per stream, subscriptions per month, followers per month and formal elements of the stream such as overlay, on-screen chat transitions, etc. With regard to the other social networks, parameters such as video duration on YouTube, activity on Twitter, evolution of followers on Instagram per month, etc. were analysed. As a result of this data, common patterns in the growth of the channels have been identified, such as participation in the same series in which sporadic, unforced collaborations occur, as in Egoland or Tortillaland, as well as being multitudinous events that involve a large part of the top streamers, forcing audiences to be interested in the different points of view of other streamers, making people follow more unknown or smaller streamers. Another pattern is that the biggest streamers on the platform have come to Twitch with a previous community formed on another social network such as Auronplay or Rubius. There is a connection between all these platforms, and when one of the secondary platforms grows, Twitch experiences even more growth. Social media plays a key role in the growth of the most prominent streamers. | ca_CA |
