COVID-19 has provoked a major economic and social crisis characterised by its selective impact, as some sectors have been more resilient to the pressures of the crisis, while others have quickly succumbed to it. At the same time, the social divide has widened significantly: more unemployment, more social inequalities. However, COVID-19 has also meant the emergence of new business opportunities: territorial processes related to the improvement of quality of life or to the needs arising from digitalisation or distance learning have accelerated. These are turbulent times, of great uncertainty and, of course, of territorial demands. This publication carries out a general analysis of the situation of the labour market in the Valencia Region by means of some variables that allow us to identify its current scenario and how the pandemic, since its outbreak at the beginning of 2020, has influenced the conditions of both the demand and supply of employment. A scenario defined by the evolution of the economy, training and education levels, the sectoral structure of employment, the precariousness of employment determined by temporary employment and working hours, and territorial characteristics.
