PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, SciELO, CINAHL, RNAO y LILACS.
de los operadores booleanos “OR” y “AND”.
muchas ventajas y pocas complicaciones.

Introduction: The subcutaneous route is an alternative to the oral route and is used in palliative
patients and at home when it is difficult to use other routes of administration or for greater
control of their symptoms. It can be used intermittently or continuously, although there is also
another mode of administration which is the continuous infusion of liquids.
Objective: To know the nursing care necessary for the correct use of the subcutaneous route.
Methodology: An integrative review of the literature on the necessary care in the use of the
subcutaneous route in palliative patients was carried out. The databases consulted were:
PubMed, Web of Science, Scopus, SciELO, CINAHL, RNAO and LILACS. Keywords in
natural language and MESH were combined with descriptors in health sciences using the
Boolean operators "OR" and "AND".
Results: The search yielded 1216 articles. After applying the selection criteria, 13 articles were
selected.
Conclusion: The use of the subcutaneous route is a safe, effective and painless technique with
many advantages and few complications. It allows great autonomy to the patient, avoids many
punctures, makes admission to the home possible, administration is easy to manage, presents
few complications and allows the administration of volumes of drugs and liquids. The nursing
care for its correct use is to monitor the puncture site and keep the technique as hygienic as
possible. [-]
