A PubMed pertenecen 4 artículos, a 3 tanto

Background: Subjective loneliness is a problem that affects 20% of the elderly in our society.
Despite its high prevalence, it is often underestimated and assumed to be normal in the elderly,
but the reality is that it creates discomfort in the elderly. This feeling of loneliness can be
measured and identified and measures can be taken to treat it.
Aims: To synthesize the scientific evidence on the impact of loneliness on the quality of life of
the elderly.
Methodology: An integrative review was performed by searching PubMed, Biblioteca Virtual
de Salud and Web of Science databases. Filters were used according to year of publication,
language and text availability. We also used the methodological quality assessment tools:
CASPe and STROBE.
Results: The initial search strategy yielded 1215 articles, but after applying filters and inclusion
and exclusion criteria, the number of articles was reduced to 10, which were included in the
review. Four articles belong to PubMed, 3 to Web Of Science and 3 to Biblioteca Virtual de
Salud.
Conclusions: Feelings of loneliness affect the health of the elderly, affecting cognitive and
functional deterioration, producing alterations in rest, and increasing fatigue and the risk of
suffering some diseases such as heart disease. It is also a risk factor for death and for engaging
in behaviors that are detrimental to health. Similarly, social isolation also affects the elderly
with a worse handling of stress, illnesses and traumatic events, as well as a longer hospital stay. [-]
