Aplicabilidad de herramientas cualitativas de evaluación del nivel de circularidad de las organizaciones

Abstract

La transición hacia una economía circular se ha identificado como uno de los mayores retos, estableciéndose las bases de su implementación a nivel nacional en la Estrategia Española de Economía Circular 2030. En este contexto, las organizaciones empiezan a demandar métodos para medir la contribución de sus acciones para avanzar hacia una economía circular y por este motivo, en los últimos años se han desarrollado herramientas orientadas a medir su nivel de circularidad. El objetivo de este estudio es analizar la aplicabilidad y utilidad de estas herramientas. Para ello, se han seleccionado las herramientas cualitativas CircularTRANS, Inedit y TECNUN que son de ámbito específico nacional y se han aplicado a dos organizaciones una del sector servicios y otra del sector productivo. Los resultados muestran que, dado que no existe una metodología unificada, los indicadores de circularidad obtenidos en las herramientas son distintos, y por tanto los resultados no son comparables. Además, las herramientas son demasiado heterogéneas y no incluyen las características específicas de los diferentes sectores. Por ello, es necesario un mayor desarrollo en este ámbito para desarrollar una herramienta unificada y estandarizada.

The transition to a circular economy has been identified as one of the biggest challenges, setting the basis for its implementation at national level in the Spanish Circular Economy Strategy 2030. In this context, organisations are beginning to demand methods to measure the contribution of their actions in the transition to the circular economy and for this reason, in recent years tools have been developed to measure their circularity level. The aim of this study is to analyse the applicability and usefulness of these tools. For this purpose, the national qualitative tools CircularTRANS, Inedit and TECNUN have been selected and applied to two organisations, one from the service sector and another from the production sector. The results show that, due to the lack of a unified methodology, the circularity indicators obtained in the tools are different, and therefore the results are not comparable. Moreover, the tools are too heterogeneous and do not include the specific characteristics of the different sectors. Therefore, future development is needed in this area in order to develop a unified and standardised tool.
