¿El empoderamiento de la nueva choni? Estética y sociología de la moda

Abstract

La choni es una etiqueta sociocultural de acuño peyorativo y estigmatizante, que el público femenino luchaba (hasta hace muy poco) por no tener. No obstante, y desde hace un tiempo, las tornas han cambiado. A partir de la segunda década de los años 2000, se aprecia un gusto creciente por el imaginario estético y vivencial del sistema cultural de la choni. Esta se ha posicionado como un potente foco generador de tendencias, seguidas desde la alta moda hasta las grandes cadenas de confección y, hasta cierto punto, la choni se ha erigido como un paradigma de empoderamiento femenino, imitado por grandes referentes de la música actual. Pero, ¿cuáles han sido los factores de cambio de dicha tendencia? ¿Qué consecuencias han sido las resultantes para el mundo de la moda? Y, sobre todo, ¿qué impacto real ha tenido en la apreciación de la choni en sociedad?

The chav is a pejorative and stigmatizing sociocultural label, which the female public fought (until very recently) not to have. However, and for some time now, the tables have turned. Starting in the second decade of the second millennium, there is a growing taste for the aesthetic and experiential imaginary of the chav cultural system. This has positioned itself as a powerful trend-generating focus, followed from high fashion to large clothing chains, and, to a certain extent, the chav has emerged as a paradigm of female empowerment, imitated by great references in current music. But, what have been the factors of change of this tendency? What consequences have been the resulting for the world of fashion? And, above all, what real impact has it had on the appreciation of the chav in society?
