Un recorrido por la Revolución Francesa. Théroigne de Méricourt, una mujer que marcó la libertad

Abstract

El tema de esta investigación gira en torno a la revolución más célebre de la historia: la que acontenció en Francia a finales de siglo XVIII. Dentro de ella, enfatizaremos el papel relevante que muchas mujeres tuvieron en aquellos sucesos revolucionarios. La Historia, ya lo sabemos, no ha sido justa con ellas. Se hace necesario reescribir la versión de los sucesos que se nos ha transmitido generación tras generación, apartando los rasgos misóginos y androcéntricos adheridos a la forma de narrarlos. Dentro de este contexto, nuestro trabajo pretende mostrar la lucha activa de una de las mujeres revolucionarias, Thérogine de Méricourt, así como su batalla para exigir una igualdad política y social entre hombres y mujeres. Para desarrollar el estudio, hemos propuesto una metodología interdisciplinar a través de la combinación del arte, la historia, la literatura y la prensa. Los resultados obtenidos apuntan que, a pesar de todo, la Revolución francesa supuso uno de los escenarios clave para la consecución y el reconocimiento de sus derechos como ciudadanas, así como una gran transformación en la condición de mujer y sus perspectivas. Fue en este periodo cuando empiezan a aparecer grupos de mujeres dispuestas a alzar la voz frente a las desigualdades e injusticias patriarcales que estaban viviendo. Estaban marcando el camino hacia el primer feminismo, movimiento, además, que años después sería continuado por otras muchas féminas.

The subject of this research revolves around the most famous revolution in history: the one that took place in France at the end of the 18th century. Within it, we will emphasise the relevant role that many women played in those revolutionary events. History, as we know, has not been fair to them. It is necessary to rewrite the version of events that has been handed down to us generation after generation, removing the misogynistic and androcentric traits attached to the way they are narrated. In this context, our work aims to show the active struggle of one of the revolutionary women, Thérogine de Méricourt, and her battle to demand political and social equality between men and women. In order to develop the study, we have proposed an interdisciplinary methodology combining art, history, literature and the press. The results obtained suggest that the French Revolution was, despite everything, one of the key stages in the achievement and recognition of women's rights as citizens, as well as a major transformation in the status of women and their perspectives. It was during this period that groups of women began to appear, ready to speak out against the inequalities and patriarchal injustices they were experiencing. They were marking the path towards the first feminism, movement, moreover, that years later would be continued by many other women.
